The Battalion looked to get into the win column for the first time in their history on Tuesday vs the Kingston Ponies. Unluckily for them, they ran into a hot pitcher in John Ivimey and came up short, 7-4. Ivimey went 6 innings, allowing only 3 hits, while striking out 11. Brendan Saville took the bump for the Battalion and had a strong outing. Once again the Battalion booted the ball around in the first inning, this time allowing 3 runs. Saville settled in after the 1st and went a total of 4 innings, striking out 8.
Matt Wing came in to split duties with Saville, going 3 innings without allowing an earned run. The offense was still a little anemic behind the two pitchers, only managing to scratch across 4 runs in the process. Evan Hammond reached base 3 times and scored a run. Matt MacIntyre had an RBI double in the 4th for his first RBI of the season. Sam Brown had a stellar NCBL debut, going 2-for-3 with 2 RBIs.
Next up for the Battalion are the Panthers
W: Ivimey (1-0)
L: Saville (0-1)
