This game was one for the books as Matt Wing threw the first no-hitter in Battalion history. The Battalion made quick work of the Outlaws, beating them 11-1 in 5 innings. Wing struck out 4, while getting ground ball after ground ball to no-hit the Outlaws. The defence was solid for the most part, except for 1 error that allowed a run to score.
On the offensive side, leadoff hitter Kyle Craig set the tone, going 2-for-4 with 3 RBIs. Steve Renaud continued his push for his first career MVP, also going 2-for-4 with 1 RBI, and a stolen base. Rookie Sam Brown also continued his torrid pace, going 2-for-3 with 2 RBIs. Fellow rookie, Matt MacIntyre’s bat is also getting hot as he went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a stolen base. As a whole, the Battalion racked up 12 hits in 5 innings.
After back to back losses, the Battalion bounced back with a big win to move into sole possession of first place. They are now a full game ahead of the Ponies and Brewers. The Battalion’s next game is Tuesday vs the Cardinals.
