Although the inaugural Bytown Battalion season didnt end the way they had hoped, they were still able to take home two of the major NCBL awards at the annual banquet.
Steve Renaud took home the MVP award while Matt Wing took home the Pitcher of the Year award. Both players had outstanding seasons and were a large proponent in the Battalion’s success.
Renaud hit .485, with 2HR and 18RBI to go along with 12SBs and only 4 strikeouts all year. He was also a defensive leader that played Gold Glove defense at Shortstop. This was Renaud’s 3rd straight year being nominated, and his first career MVP.
Wing was the ace from beginning to end for the Battalion racking up a 5-2 record with an outstanding 1.07 ERA, 1.05 WHIP, in 45.2 innings of work.
Both players are large core pieces for the Battalion moving forward and their hopes at the 2015 NCBL Championship.
