May 26th VS Cubs

Yet another poor outing by the Battalion, this time it was the defence that let the team down. Pitching was overall good for the Battalion for the first time all season as Evan Hammond got his first start of the year. The defence however made 5 errors behind Hammond, leading to 5 unearned runs.

Hammond’s final line was 3.1IP, 10H, 4BB, 0K, 8R, 3ER. Eitan Maoz came in to throw 2.1 innings of scoreless relief, followed up by another scoreless inning from Brent Daviault.

The offence was kept quiet most of the night, only mustering 8 hits, 3 of which came of the bat of Kyle Craig, who is now batting .500 on the season. Craig also had 4 RBIs.

The Battalion jumped out to a 3-1 lead after 2, after scrapping some runs together on a Sam McIntosh sac fly, and a 2RBI double by Craig. The wheels fell off in the 3rd where the Cubs scored 5 runs and never looked back. The Battalion tried a late rally, scoring 2 in the 6th but could not get any closer.

The Battalion are back at it on Friday against the Panthers.

WP: Armstrong (1-0)
LP: Hammond (0-1)
