With their backs against the wall, the Battalion needed a big performance from defending pitcher of the year Matt Wing.
Wing was solid from the start only allowing 1 base runner in the first two innings.
Adam Oattes was on the hill for the Brewers and breezed through the first 2 innings before getting into trouble in the 3rd. Evan Hammond was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning. After Hammond stole 2nd, Kyle Craig was able to score him on a ground rule double. After getting the next batter out, the Brewers elected to intentionally walk Alex Baldock to get to Wil McIntyre. McIntyre made them pay with an RBI single up the middle to make it 2-0 after 3.
The Battalion added another in the 4th. After a leadoff double by Steve Renaud, Hammond was able to score him on a sac-fly.
The Battalion added 2 more in the 5th, and 1 in the 6th to go up 6-0.
Win was solid all game, going the distance in a 2 hitter. His final line was 7IP, 2H, 3BB, 6K, 0R.
The Battalion live to fight another day as game 4 goes Sunday.
WP: Wing (2-0)
