The Battalion were trying to avoid the #hijinx versus the newly promoted Sweat Sox. The teams had faced off once before, with the Battalion coming out on top in last year’s Brewers Tournament.
Charlie Crabb got his first start as a member of the red and gold and threw 6 strong innings. Crabb’s final line was 6IP, 2ER, 5H, 7K, and 2BB
The Battalion jumped out to an early 2-0 lead on a 2 out, 2 run single by Matt MacIntyre.
The Battalion would add a third run in the top of the 2nd on a RBI single by Josh Soffer.
Crabb cruised through the first 2 innings but ran into some trouble in the 3rd. After a lead off single and a sac bunt, Crabb allowed a single and then a triple to cut the Battalion lead to 3-2 after 3 complete.
The Battalion were able to answer those 2 runs right away, scoring 2 of their own on a 2 run double by Musashi Takara.
They subsequently added 3 more in the 6th on a 3 run double by MacIntyre who finished the day 2-for-4 with a single, double, and 5 RBI, adding an outfield assist as well.
Casey Floyd came in to close the door in the 7th and secure the Battalion’s first win of 2016
