July 29th VS Cubs

The season series rubber match between the Cubs and Battalion decided nothing, as the two NCBL foes tied 6-6. It was a back and forth game all night long. The Battalion went up 2-0 early before the Cubs exploded for a 6 run 4th inning. The Battalion were able to tie it up at 6 in the 5th, and that’s how it finished.

Brendan Saville started on the bump for the Battalion and lasted 4 innings, giving up 6 runs. Saville was victimized by 7 walks, due in large part to what both teams agreed was the worst umpired game of the season. Matt MacIntyre and Alex Baldock each came in to throw a scoreless inning of relief, both striking out 2.

Ryan Dillon was back in the lineup for the Battalion and helped in a big way offensively. Dillon hit a game-tying, 3 run double in the 5th, raising his total to 15 RBIs on the season. Steve Renaud stayed hot and went 3-for-3. Renaud now has a hit in all but two games this season. Josh Jones and Evan Hammond each added two hits.

Both teams used three pitchers in the tie.

Battalion are back at it on Thursday vs the Brewers.
