August 8th VS Outlaws

The Battalion continue to struggle after losing 10-5 to the Outlaws. This pushes the winless streak to 3 games, with 2 games remaining on the schedule. The Battalion were able to get out to an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the 1st. After Kyle Craig led off with a single, Ben Milinkovich laid a bunt down that advanced Craig to 2nd. This allowed Steve Renaud to cash him in on an RBI single. The Battalion held the 1-0 lead until the top of the 3rd where to Outlaws scratched across a run. Then in the top of the 4th the Outlaws blew it open, scoring 6 runs on 4 hits, 2 walks, and 2 errors.

The offense was solid for the Battalion, scoring 5 runs on 8 hits and 5 walks. Craig led the way, going 3-for-4 with 3 runs and 2 RBIs. Renaud chipped in 2 hits of his own and 3 RBIs. Milinkovich, Drew McCormick, and Alex Baldock added the other 3 hits for the Battalion.

Casey Floyd made his second career start and went 6 innings, letting up 9 runs (5 earned), while striking out 3. The defense made some untimely errors behind Floyd which led to 4 unearned runs for the Outlaws. Brent Daviault came in for an inning of relief and allowed 1 run on 2 hits. Brent’s older brother Greg took the mound for the Outlaws and was solid from start to finish.

The Battalion have a full week off before they’re back at it against the Brewers. Lots of playoff positioning will be on the line.

WP: G. Daviault (4-4)
LP: Floyd (2-1)
